'Hot' Goods, and Rap Sheet as Love Note

By Abigail Crocker

That's not exactly what they mean by 'hot' goods:Johnston Police reported this week that they solved an apparent theft case after finding more than $27,000 of jewelry and other items in a microwave oven that had been stashed in an outdoor shed. A Johnston man reportedly admitted to helping himself to the items after spending the night at an apartment, then asking the resident to give him a ride to a friend's house. When the woman discovered her wallet and jewelry missing, she at first called the suspect to ask him about it, to which he replied: "The police are going to need a warrant to check my friend's house."
In fact, the residents of the home signed a consent to search request, which allowed officers to search the property — where they found the microwave and the items inside it.

Arrest reports, the new Hallmark card:A Narragansett man was charged with violating a no contact order on June 6 after the victim allegedly found a two-page letter on her pillow. The note was written by the man using the back of his police fact sheet. He was previously arrested for domestic abuse and violating a prior no contact order and was in the process of moving out of the apartment he and the victim shared together. The note mentioned several times that he could not contact her.
Alleged drug scheme lands Wrentham woman in cuffs:A woman from Wrentham, MA, allegedly impersonated a dentist's aid to call in a prescription of Vicodin at a Woonsocket CVS near closing time on Saturday, June 9. When she arrived to pick it up, the pharmacist called the police, who questioned her in the break room after she reportedly attempted to sneak out of the store. The woman reportedly then asked "What's wrong?" and said she needed the prescription for a pulled tooth. Officers arrested the woman and charged her with providing a fake report to obtain a controlled substance and forgery.
The most unfortunate game of hide-and-seek:Tiverton police arrested a Somerset man on Sunday, June 10, after he allegedly fled his taxi in the early morning hours, hid in Tiverton woods and charged at an officer when discovered.
Officers met with the cab driver on Bulgarmarsh Road at approximately 2:30 a.m. The driver said a man refused to pay his fare and jumped out of the vehicle. Officers arrived and spoke to the cabi who last spotted him walking into the nearby woods. Officers searched the woods, and located a man hiding behind a tree and some shrubs. He then started yelling and allergedly tried to strike an officer. He was subdued and charged.
Say 'cheese,' noisy neighbor:An East Greeenwich man told police a man walking by his house broke his video camera after they got into an argument over noise the man and his companion were reportedly making. After the resident told the man he was videotaping him, the man allegedly lunged toward him, knocking the camera to the ground. The two men then ran off. Police recommended the resident call them about noise complaints in future.
