PROVIDENCE - The Department of Environmental Management announces that in conjunction with Governor Chafee's Bay Day, all Rhode Islanders and visitors can fish in Rhode Island saltwaters without a saltwater fishing license on Sunday, July 28.

Free saltwater fishing for anglers is just one of the many activities available to the public on Governor's Bay Day. Free parking will be available at all Rhode Island state beaches and family-friendly activities will be offered at Colt State Park, Roger Wheeler State Beach, and Scarborough State Beach.

Highlights of the Bay Day festivities include the annual complimentary Governor's Picnic and Great Outdoors Pursuit activities at Colt State Park. Music will fill the air with beach-side performances by Vini Ames & Sh-bop, Kicking Hole Band, Lite Rock 105, COAST 93.3 and B101, and 92 WPRO-FM.

DEM will host the 3rd event of the 2013 Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in conjunction with Governor's Bay Day at Colt State Park in Bristol. The Pursuit event is open to the public and will feature a host of free activities. There is no cost to register and all activities are either free or low-cost. The general public who do not wish to register are also invited to participate in all activities. More information is available at www.riparks.com/RIOutdoorsPursuit/Home.html.

The Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit, co-sponsored by DEM and the Rhode Island Department of Health, seeks to connect families with outdoor public spaces and inspire active outdoor lifestyles while educating them about environmental and health issues. Teams receive points for participating in each event and will be eligible for prizes of outdoor equipment donated by local retailers and sponsors that will be awarded at the Pursuit finale on August 17.

The full schedule and game rules are posted on the program website: www.riparks.com.
