One of South County’s few surviving progressives gets key committee assignments

Tanzi named to House Finance, Small Business committees
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Teresa Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, South Kingstown, Narragansett) has been appointed to the House Finance Committee and its Small Business Committee, House Speaker Nicholas A. Mattiello has announced.

The Finance Committee is considered the most influential of the House committees, since it is in charge of developing the state budget as well as handling other matters that have a financial impact on the state. It is also one of the busiest committees, meeting daily for much of the session.

As a member of the Finance Committee, Representative Tanzi will also serve on its Subcommittee on Environment and Transportation.

The Small Business Committee reviews matters relating to the streamlining of licenses and permits, eliminating or decreasing bureaucratic steps and uncoordinated or duplicative filings and reducing associated costs to businesses.

Representative Tanzi is serving her third term in the General Assembly.
