Sosnowski appointed to regional farm group

Senator Susan Sosnowki Joins CSG/ERC’s Agriculture Committee
Senator Susan Sosnowski has been appointed to serve on The Council of State Governments’ Eastern Regional Conference’s Northeast States Association for Agriculture Stewardship (NSAAS) through 2016. NSAAS represents agriculture, natural resource and rural policy issues for the Eastern Regional Conference.

“NSAAS has been instrumental in providing the Northeast a voice at the national level in issues such as food safety, labor and the farm bill. I look forward to working with colleagues from across the region on issues of importance to us all,” says Sen. Sosnowski.

“Participation in NSAAS provides me the opportunity to learn about the issues most impacting our rural communities from leading experts, gather best practices and share ideas and insights with state legislators throughout the Northeast. It better prepares me for responding to the challenges my constituents face.”

CSG/ERC is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, located in New York City since 1937, serves legislative, executive and judicial branch officials in 11 Northeastern states, as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and five Eastern Canadian provinces.

CSG/ERC’s policy staff supports the three branches of state government through nine areas of special concern to the region. These include agriculture, criminal justice, economic development, education, energy and environment, fiscal affairs, health care, transportation and US-Canada relations.

Its mission is to promote successful state policy innovations, advocate multi-jurisdictional problem solving, advocate for regional interests at the federal level, offer leadership training and technical assistance and forecast policy trends that affect the Northeast.

“Our family farms and rural communities continue to have a smaller voice in the state legislature, it is more important than ever that I am prepared with the information I need to best equip Rhode Island for the future,” Sen. Sosnowski said.
