Mystic, Conn: Tropical ‘Sunsation’ Week gets underway this weekend at Mystic Aquarium. From Saturday, February 13 through Sunday, February 21, paradise waits visitors with a journey that includes live musical entertainment, hula lessons, limbo contests and, of course, unique animal presentations.

Guests are invited to float along the main floor to experience countless tropical fish species like the barracuda, bluestriped grunt, Caribbean blue tang, porkfish, queen triggerfish, the ever-popular clownfish and many more. Daily activities for kids of all ages are located throughout the campus and will include the ‘Totally Tropical Beach Party’ with pineapple bowling, shark limbo and hula hooping, themed Arts & Crafts, hula dancing and SCUBA selfies.

Daily live entertainment features a special ‘Surf’s Up’ California Sea Lion Show in the Foxwoods Marine Theater and music of the islands with select performances by Aaron Cote–Steel Pans, Pan Man Chris and Ron Murray – Sounds of the Islands. Special events include Zumba lessons and a special performance by “Bring the Hoopla” from Shelton. Plus, each day from 10:00AM to 3:00PM, Penguin’s CafĂ© will be serving up tasty tropical delights.

Topping the week’s events are exotic tropical reptile meet and greets! From 10:00AM to 10:30AM daily, get closer than ever to our tegu, rainbow boa, desert tortoise, Caledonian giant gecko, Egyptian uromastyx and the Madagascan hissing cockroach.
