New season of writing classes for local writers

The Carolina Fiber and Fiction Center announces TUESDAYS@TEN SUMMER 2017 WRITING SESSION.

June 13-Sept 5 (excluding July 4, August 8 & 15).

Limited to 8 writers. Tuesdays from 10 to noon.

"We spin yarns out of memory and imagination and develop craft without damaging creativity"

Contact gfarrell@butler.edu to pre-register. An Amherst Writers and Artists International Affiliate

Meetings include prompts, craft exercises, and manuscript reviews in a creative and relaxed atmosphere. We write for pleasure, self-discovery, and/or publication.

Cost: Because the Center is the educational arm of a non-profit and instructors volunteer their expertise for modest honoraria, we are able to offer both weaving and writing for $25 per week per 10-week sessions. The cost is $250 for the full session or $150 for any 5 weeks.

Grace Farrell: writer and weaver, author of five books, director of the Octagon House Press, has a Ph.D in English from Brown University. Award-winning teacher of writing and literature in universities for 35 years, she has developed a process of writing as weaving; weavers double-weave, layer in, and change threads, while, around them, weavers weave and spinners spin.

What they are saying about TUESDAYS@TEN:

  • “Grace is an extraordinary writer and an exceptional human being who brings brilliance, laughter, wit and wisdom to every literary setting.”
  • “The craft exercises clarify the writing process and give me options in how to approach my work.”
  • “I never thought my writing would progress so much, so quickly!”
  • “I loved taking my character with me on chores around town. She turned out to be one hell of a bossy bitch. I had no idea!”
