Catch fall colors, sunset and moonrise! The Wood River is fabulous for kayaking and listening to evening birds and beavers.
We will launch from the WPWA campus onto the Wood River. This wide section of river is great for beginners. As we paddle out, spot painted turtles or the frequently seen Great Blue Herons. Dusk brings special creatures not usually enjoyed. Beavers may surprise us with their loud tail slaps, or otters may grace us with a stealthy appearance.
Event is 5:00-7:30pm. Please arrive early. The group will launch at about 5:20 pm and paddle leisurely for about an hour and a half. Sunset is 6:40 pm. Headlamps are encouraged for on-land activities.
Cost is $25 for members, $30 for non-members and $15 per child ($65+ value). Kayaks and gear are included. If you are a WPWA Otter, Osprey, or Eagle Member, the program is free and you will not be asked for payment when you register online. 4 tandem kayaks are also available, great for an adult to share with a child under 11. The registration link will indicate the number available, if any.
