EDITOR'S NOTE: hunting season continues until the last day of May. With nice weather forecast for this weekend, be careful before you head out into the woods.
You can bet that since this is the last weekend to bag a Bambi, there will be plenty of hunters out there.
These are the requirements for people who want to go into the state management areas, including Burlingame, during hunting season:
Daylight Fluorescent Orange Requirement for all
State Management Areas (Arcadia, Burlingame,
etc.)
“All users (hikers, bicyclists, horseback riders,
etc.) of State Management areas are required to wear 200
square inches of solid daylight fluorescent orange from the third Saturday in
October to the last day of February and the last Thursday in April to the last
day in May”

ReplyDeletePlease note that people who hunt turkey often where full camo, including face paint. They look scary, but keep in mind that they aren't out to frighten people, they are out to hunt turkey.
I tend to suspect that if there are more people hunting this year than previous years, it's because more people really need the meat.

ReplyDeleteI doubt it. Hunting is neither an inexpensive nor reliable means of putting food on the table, in this day and age.
I know ammo's not cheap, but have you seen the price of hamburger meat at Stop & Shop lately? And that's with the pink slime in it, forget the real ground beef...
