The smart way to get rid of electronic junk

Charlestown businesses fill the gap after town stops accepting e-waste

The recent end to electronic waste disposal at the Charlestown Transfer Station now requires residents to take their unwanted electronics to Narragansett.

In order to provide a more convenient way to dispose of unwanted electronics, Charlestown Mini-Super and Indie Cycle, LLC have collaborated to hold regular electronic waste drop off events in Charlestown.

The first event will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 9 AM – 12 Noon at the Mini-Super located on 4071 Old Post Road.  The drop off event is free and open to anyone from Charlestown and nearby communities.

Both companies are based in Charlestown and endeavor to support this important environmental service that will not only avoid dumping in the landfill but will bring additional recycling revenue to the town.

Indie Cycle, LLC accepts all types of electronic items including computers, printers, stereo equipment, microwaves, TVs, monitors, phones, batteries, and small household appliances.

Also accepted is coolant containing devices such as air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and mini refrigerators for a $10 disposal fee.

Not accepted are light bulbs, furniture, paint and broken TV tubes.
