South County air continues its unhealthy streak

Ozone to blame. Also, pollen counts are high again
By Will Collette

For Charlestown residents with respiratory problems, take note that the local air is officially "unhealthy" from high levels of ground level ozone. This problem may last through much of the week as high temperatures are predicted, meaning more beach goers and more car exhaust.

Pollen counts are also registering in the moderate to high ranges. The pollen is mostly from grasses and ragweed.

Be careful out there. Summer can be hazardous to your health.

Condolences to the friends and family of the yet-unidentified 80-year old man who died in Charlestown during a bike race when he rode his bike into the back of a parked pick-up truck on Route 2.
