Some Progress

While there are still many people without electricity in Charlestown, and National Grid trucks that must be invisible, here is a short report on some progress being made.

  • Because of the disruption of the waters by the Irene all shellfishing in the state was closed for a time. Ninigret Pond, and Quonochontaug Pond were re-opened on Tuesday. Point Judith Pond in South Kingstown and Narragansett, and Winnapaug Pond in Westerly were re-opened on Thursday.
  • The East Beach State Campground (you knew there was one, right?) re-opened on Thursday.
  • Burlingame State Campground re-opens today (Friday). Water in the campground should temporarily be considered unsafe for drinking or cooking without boiling.
  • The Charlestown Breachway State Campground re-opened earlier in the week.
We have a beautiful weekend planned for Rhythm & Roots in Ninigret Park and for the Democratic Town Committee Tag Sale. Watch out for the chance of scattered storms on Sunday and Monday.
