Local food establishments collaborate on scholarship fund-raiser, November 13

George's of Galilee Wine Dinner 2014

Here at George's, we think it's of utmost importance to give back. We've sponsored the area Little League and youth basketball league for years, but it's time for something a bit bigger. As many of you know, George's is a family restaurant. Owned by the Durfee family three generations and counting, it's been a staple of the local community. The previous owner, Richard Durfee, was a charter member of the Lions Club, and founder of the Blessing of the Fleet.

When Richard Durfee passed in June of 2013, we thought that there'd be no better way of honoring his legacy than by continuing his commitment to the local South County community. The E. Richard Durfee Scholarship Fund offers financial benefit to graduates of Narragansett High School pursuing higher education in the fields of math and science.

In conjunction with our friends at Matunuck Oyster Bar, Coast Guard House, Crazy Burger, Chophouse Grille, Arturo Joe's, Ninigret Oyster Farm, Bonnet Liquors, and Sons of Liberty, we're hosting a food and wine tasting to benefit the scholarship fund on Thursday, November 13th, from 6:30-8:30 PM at the iconic Towers in Narragansett, RI. We'd love for you to attend: see more information here.
