Too busy?

By Conover Kennard

The former president visited servicemembers in Afghanistan four times, and during a surprise trip in 2014, Obama addressed a crowd of uniformed personnel and made a point of shaking hands with each one of them.

Former president George W. Bush did not hesitate to visit the troops either.

However, Donald Trump, a man who feigns to love the military and veterans, has failed to visit the troops overseas and he has been in office for nearly two years.

Trump, in a rambling interview with the Associated Press on October 16, said he hasn’t gone overseas to visit the troops because he is “very busy.”

Trump told the AP that while he doesn’t feel it’s “overly necessary” to pay a visit to a military base in a combat zone like Iraq or Afghanistan, he plans to at some point in the future. It’s been almost two years, though, and Trump has had time to hold ego-rallies in various states.

“I’ve been very busy with everything that’s taking place here,” he said.

“Well, I will do that at some point, but I don’t think it’s overly necessary. I’ve been very busy with everything that’s taking place here,” he said, then went on to boast about the economy.

“We have the greatest economy in the history of our country. I mean, this is the greatest economy we’ve ever had, best unemployment numbers. Many groups are, you know, we’ve never even been close to these numbers,” Trump continued.

“I’m doing a lot of things. I’m doing a lot of things. But it’s something I’d do. And do gladly. Nobody has been better at the military. Hey, I just got them a pay raise. I haven’t had a pay raise in 11 years. I just got them a substantial pay raise. ‘They’ meaning our military people. I just got them new equipment. They have stuff that was so old that the grandfathers used to fly it. I have done more for the military than any president in many, many years.”

Trump repeated a claim that the White House has previously admitted wasn’t accurate. That was not the military’s first pay raise in 11 years, but just as the former reality show star takes credit for Obama’s economy, he’s also taking credit for previous pay raises in the military, too. In fact, military members have gotten pay raises every year since 2004.

Trump did, however, offer a Thanksgiving Day message to the troops last year from his luxury estate in Florida to tell them: “We’re really winning.”

Fun fact: As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton traveled nearly 1 million miles and she didn’t break a sweat.

Author Conover Kennard makes tea partiers cry as a hobby. She was Commander of Jade Helm15 during the failed takeover of the South. She's also one of the biggest arseholes on Twitter. At night, she can be found drinking Conservative tears while pulling off the wings of flies just because she can. She is the founder of a Marxist, Commie, Maoist, Socialist site and has contributed to several other sites, blah blah blah. She is an awful person but she doesn't like to brag about that.
