Need for Food Assistance
May Increase in February
May Increase in February
Due to the
government shutdown, the 157,000 Rhode Islanders receiving federal food
assistance, or SNAP, received their support for February on January 20,
nearly two weeks early. However, they will not receive the next round of
benefits until March 1. As a result, many families may fall short of funds
and seek food assistance from our network of pantries and meal sites. Please
help us make sure that we are prepared to meet this need.
