OMG PD

Candy, Flowers & Blackmail

When cards, flowers and candy fail to hold your relationship together, there’s always extortion. Well, at least one Newport man thought so.

Not one to buckle to blackmail, the girlfriend (presumably ex-girlfriend now) reached out to the State Police. They arrested the man on charges of extortion, cyber harassment and cyber stalking.

Oh, and they also discovered he was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of obtaining money under false pretenses.

Not-So Covert Ops

A group of Barrington teens needs a lesson in law…and perhaps discretion and stealth. Three teenage boys were less than discrete as they dragged a green cooler into the woods at 4:30 p.m. (i.e. broad daylight).

A resident called police after he saw one of the teens stop to urinate behind a dumpster. Police arrived to search the area and it wasn’t long before they spotted the group, which quickly fled the area.

Based on the remaining booty of booze (30 unopened cans of Busch beer and three partially consumed beer cans), police intervened just in time.

I Don’t Like This Line of Questioning

A Massachusetts man took particular exception to his girlfriend’s accusations that he wasn’t fit to drive after he had been drinking. To prove that he was fine to drive, the man allegedly put the car in reverse and pinned his girlfriend between the truck and a wall.

To further prove the point, the man also reportedly got out of the car, punched her in the face and then left. The 28-year-old man returned to the scene as officers spoke with the woman and tried to flee, but police were able to run him down.

He was charged with domestic felony assault and domestic simple assault.
