RhodeMapRI holds final South County workshop on Thursday

Come see what scares the beejezus out of George Tremblay
By Will Collette

On Thursday, Jan. 9 – Southern RI: H.L. Arnold Fire and Safety Complex, 208 Richmond Townhouse Road, Richmond, Rhode Island Statewide Planning, the state’s technical planning agency, will hold the last of its series of workshops seeking ideas from the community on future directions for economic development, housing, environmental protection and land use.

One of the products coming out of this process is a very nice, potentially useful set of maps.

Charlestown Town Council member George Tremblay (CCA Party) spoke about this series during “Councilor Comments” at a recent Council meeting as if they represent a life or death threat to Charlestown. It was as if they were the embodiment of one of the right-wing’s most obscure and feared boogeymen, the so-called United Nations Agenda 21.

Tremblay noted that these sessions have been poorly attended by the general citizenry, and only CCA Party followers have been showing up at the workshops held in Southern Rhode Island.

If you share Tremblay’s fears that some nefarious plot is being hatched, or are just curious about what those hilarious tricksters at Statewide Planning are up to, this is your last chance.
