We Miss You - A Message to our Friends

While we are here every day taking care of the animals, we anxiously await your return.
We’re learning a lot about ourselves and each other during these unprecedented times. “We are a huge and incredibly supportive community,” said Stephanie Golding, a herpetologist. “We have all stepped up to take on more work and more responsibility. We have banded together and really put our hearts into making it work during this difficult time. And we’re still smiling”.
We hope you are learning more about us as well through our daily Facebook Lives and our other social media channels. When things get back to normal -- and they will --we’ll be here waiting for you!

Fun and Learning: Online Digital Resources

Until we reopen, please stay connected with us through social media. Our goal is to provide you, our community, with not only valuable resources for education and entertainment as you navigate these difficult waters, but also an even more personal look at who we are and what we do here at Mystic Aquarium.
In addition to daily Facebook Lives we have a number of online learning resources including access to our STEM for Kids webpage for games, videos, virtual field trips, hands-on activities, e-books, podcasts, and more.
To start receiving our weekly resources update email, click here and add “Fun and Educational Resources” to your preferences.

CHICK'FLUFF'-DATE

This fuzzy African penguin chick, who is part of Mystic Aquarium’s species conservation efforts, is the 59th penguin to join our colony. For a donation of $59 you can submit a suggestion for the chick’s name for consideration. Not only is this a much-needed feel good opportunity (for all of us!) but also an opportunity to help ensure the health and safety of the animals that call the Aquarium home.

Animal Enrichment: Its Importance - Now More Than Ever

Recently, engaging videos from zoos and aquariums have gone viral, like our very own “The Stare Down” featuring Clara the California sea lion and Rex the black and white Argentinian Tegu. Not only are these videos fun to watch, but they also highlight something of great significance: animal enrichment.
We invite you to read the blog “Animal Enrichment: Its Importance - Now More Than Ever” by Laurie Macha, Curator, and Carey Richard, Assistant Curator, to learn what steps Mystic Aquarium professionals are taking to provide enrichment to their animals every day. .
