Over 100 spectators came out last Sunday for Charlestown’s second North East Skim Tour event at Charlestown Town Beach. Sponsored by Charlestown’s Parks and Recreation Department, it was a nice day at the beach with no trouble and no injuries.

Some serious dudes ready to go
The persistent stormy weather that has been sitting over Charlestown and the rest of the New England coastline stirred up lots of wave action. Even with the cloud cover, that created better conditions for the competitors than last year.
As you might expect, the number of participants were up from last year’s premiere of the event. Thirty-five people signed up to participate, up 12 from 2012.
Though the Charlestown contestants were game, no one from Charlestown made the final three which came down to Connor McManus from Matunuck, RI, Noah Barmar from Cape Cod and last year's winner, Drew Plourd from Boston, Ma.
In the end, Plourd won it for the second year in a row.
Everyone said it was fun and awesome day. Colter Miller, the organizer of North East Skim Tours, was happy about the day, appreciative of everyone who helped make it happen and hopes that there is a Three-peat for next year.
