You pay – why don’t they?

The Rhode Island Division of Taxation publishes a regularly
updated list of the top 100 tax deadbeats in the state.
Actually, they list 200 deadbeats by publishing one list of private individuals who owe lots of money and another listing deadbeat businesses.

For the past several years, the top tax deadbeats have been the
parents of former Portsmouth State Representative Dan Reilly (R) who moved to
Florida, but left their $1.4 million tax debt behind.
We have very few businesses in South County on that list, but more
than one out of five – 21 out of 100 – individual deadbeats come from South
County, including several from Charlestown. Ronald Acton of North Kingstown
holds the dubious distinction of being the #2 delinquent in the state ranking
just behind the Reillys.
By all means, read the entire list, but for your convenience, I
have extracted the South County deadbeats and list them below.
