Langevin Accepting Applications for U.S. Service Academies

Applications Due By November 2

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) is now accepting applications for nomination to the United States Military Academies. As a Member of Congress, Langevin has the privilege of nominating constituents to the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the United States Air Force Academy.

“As a senior member of both the House Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees, I believe that a strong national defense is a vital responsibility of our government, and a strong defense is dependent on the brave men and women who serve our nation with distinction,” said Congressman Langevin.

“It is a great honor for me to nominate talented, hardworking young people to our distinguished military academies, and I look forward to reviewing this year’s group of worthy applicants.”

Applicants must reside in the Second Congressional District and be between the ages of 17 and 23. Applications will be reviewed and interviews will be conducted by Congressman Jim Langevin and a panel of community and military leaders.

Applications for matriculation in July of 2016 are due by November 2, 2015. To ensure students’ privacy, all applications for nomination must be mailed.

Applications can be downloaded from Congressman Langevin’s website, and must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation. All correspondence and telephone inquiries regarding the Service Academies can be directed to Ryan Sherry at (401) 732-9400 or academyRI02@mail.house.gov
