Welcome Back to Yawgoo Trail!
By the South Kingstown Land
Trust
SKLT is so proud to share with you that after 6 years of
planning, fundraising, conservation work Yawgoo Trail is officially reopened!
Address: 236 Barber’s Pond Rd, West Kingston, RI
02892
This milestone would not have been possible without the
generous support of the many organizations, grant programs, and individual
donors who believed in and donated to this project. We marked the occasion with
a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on June 12, 2026, and the trail is now fully open —
kiosk and all — and welcoming visitors.
Julia Landstreet: “This project has been a long time coming, and we are incredibly grateful to the many people and organizations who helped make it possible. Protecting open space is at the heart of SKLT’s mission, and reopening Yawgoo Trail means the community can once again experience and connect with this remarkable landscape.”
As visitors return to the trail, SKLT asks the community to
help protect the sensitive ecosystems that make Yawgoo Pond so special. Public
access to the shoreline is not permitted to prevent erosion, habitat
disturbance, and declining water quality. Visitors are encouraged to remain on
designated trails and respect posted signage (and our neighbors) to help
preserve these wetlands, vernal pools, and shoreline habitats for generations
to come. Thank you for understanding.
